Blinkers/flashers

I bought my son a 96 XJ 4.0
We can not figure out why the blinkers and flasher don't work.
Checked all the fuses all the wires. When you turn on the blinker it lights up but will not blink. The hazards do not even light up. I can not find the flasher fuse the round one.
Any ideas where it could be ?

can u hear relay pop or make sound ???then relay

have not check relay ? I believe its the flasher fuse but i cant find it the big round one

sorry didn't mean to be a dick. paw in owns 67 mustang had problem with his horn. just trying to help

we found a simple fix put wire to the horn postive batt. it will honk. try it

lift up the hood box on the right might help u my wife owns one

Possibly the brake light switch? Does it use the same element as the brake light for the rear turn signal?

You may have a bulb with a bad element the turn signals use separate bulbs in the rear

I had the same problem in my 01 xj it should be the flasher. If its the same its under the driver side kick panel once you take that off its kinda below the light switch. Its a pain to get to and I hope you have small hands. And it looks like a normal relay

I don't see 1996, maybe 95 will do.

under the dash. left side, in fuse panel is a round thing like 1" OD and about 3/4" deep. one is for flashers and one is for hazards. Those have been known to go out. They are the flasher modules.

not on a 96 there a space but no wires. it was moved on the 96 models

Ok tore out dash,took apart anything that was covered still can't find flasher relay. Does anyone with a 96 xj know where its at ?

googled:

2nd fusebox under dash below steering wheel (no cover). Square RED and square BLUE box. One is FLASHER, one is TURN SIGNAL...I believe blue is flasher (simple to check).

"You might want to check again. 95 is the year the XJ went to the flasher "relay" . They do not have the standard plug in flasher motors like the older ones do. They have spots for them in the fuse block, but they are not used. Jason's is a 95 & I've got a 96 sitting in my garage & both have the flasher "relay". These are located in a seperate relay block just in front of the knees on the inside of the dash."
