Just sold a backhoe and am looking at another. It is a 99 New Holland 555e 4x4 with 2800hrs. I checked it out thoroughly and is a really tight machine with clean fluids and all... The last thing I did was to remove the oil filler cap while running. There is no smoke or oil squirting out but I did notice some air coming out of the filler tube. Was kind of like a truck exhaust with a regular quick paced puff puff puff....

What say you guys? Normal?

Make sure the slobber hose is not plugged, pinched or kinked. Most older diesels have higher crank case pressure. At 2800 hours it's probably fine.

Flip the cap over and set it on top of the filler neck. If it doesn't blow the cap off, it'll be fine.
