Blown engine

17%?

Usually people buy vehicles to get from point A to point B or something of the sort. The blown engine really defeats its purpose.

The newer it is, the more it drops it, if it’s a 95 Chevy 1500, it’s pretty damn close in my opinion. 350s can be found easy and cheap and can be dropped in easy if you know what you’re doing. Same for 4.3.

specialty 1 off motors etc, that can make or break it. if the motor is scarce as hens teeth and blown and no easy swap, dirt cheap.

I’m gonna assume it’s not a rare super car or rare muscle car and it is a standard grocery getter...at which point, whats scrap worth these days? Squeeze more out of it if you’re willing to part it out.

It’s a 2010 Jeep Patriot. Trying to find a crate motor for it to see if I want to take on this project.

They’re asking 1,200 for it. Crate motor is way to much 3k range from what I could tell. And a used motor can be found around 600.

It don’t have to be rare necessarily, just limited in what it was put in. If it was only in one setup, that’s all you have to find.

Yeah, that’s what I was getting at...a $2-300k super/muscle car with a blown engine would still be worth purchasing...otherwise it’s probably scrap value.

They're not worth anything. Not even other Jeep owners will touch those things. :p

Yeah but do you still get the “Jeep wave” while driving one???

How much does blown engine decrease the value of a car?

Look at 08 and newer f series w a bad 6.4. I’ve saw them for as little as 3k.

It would need to be super clean and have a used motor ready to put it. Could be an easy flip.

I wouldn’t buy one to have.

not a bad project idea since you are trying to get into that field.

but, knowing my luck it would screw me every way possible. Problem with a bad motor is it’s really hard to check everything else
