blown knee

shop around, take your time. I think most Dr's settle into their speciality and the process they are most comfortable with (probably less likely to be best for the patient, and more likely to be best for liability).

My first knee surgery, I remember asking the Dr "What do I do now, how do I keep this from happening again".....he point blank looked at me and said "you are too young for us to do anything" (i.e. you can only have your knee replaced so many times,so limp along until you hit an age where you won't outlive a knee, and we can talk).

I did the MF surgery a decade later and was in a motion machine for 8 weeks, 8 hours a day, they shipped me home with a 6" blood clot in my leg, and gave me the "keep an eye out of DVT" talk while I was still coming out of anastesia...almost died.

Stick in there lots of shitty Dr's out there, don't get fooled by the diploma and white coat.

my appointment was today. The Dr. was great. He examined the knee and I gave him my MRI read result. This is 2 dr.'s that said I do not have a torn ACL. I have a severe meniscus issue. I am now referred to a meniscus surgical specialist . They will measure what's left of the cartilage from the 2 previous surgeries and see if it can just be a slight trim or if a transplant is needed. Either way, this guy said there is not an issue with this being repaired to the point of me running a 5k again. I hope he is correct.

Stop running 5k's...

Please don't assume that running caused this injury. It had nothing to do with it.

AT 17 I was installing metal roofs, I slipped and came off the roof causing the initial injury. First surgery, Then it became aggravated in 2000. Second surgery, I roofed my house a few years back. Aggravating it again, third surgery in the works.

I need to stay off roofs. Running is ok.

I'll be scheduling simple knee scope to remove the tear. After that, lots of PT. He stated there are several issues I have in my knee. And that PT will not fix, but will alleviate most of the pain. I'll be glad to get this catch/click out of my knee.

Surgery went well, no issues. Pt begins Wednesday. I can put weight in the knee and bend it, this is nowhere near as painful as the last meniscectomy. Maybe it's just the pain killers are better now:D

Actually, that's just the level she starts at. Goes up from there.

If it starts at your knee.....you are probably in the wrong profession.

Glad the surgery went well, keep an eye open for pain that seems extreme, I went home with DVT and wound up with a 6" blood clot after my last knee surgery.....don't be afraid to go back and tell them there is pain if ice doesn't make it feel better.

First of two total knee replacements will be on Aug 10th. I figure the other knee will be a month later. I will be happy to be finally able to move without pain after rehab.

Good luck, my father and other family members have had this done. Were walking the same day.

Thanks, I know a couple other people who have had it done and they also were up and walking the same day.

The meniscus trim worked for a while, sometime in 2021 it bulged out to the side and became bone on bone. Got to where i could not walk well. My mobility was shot.

This morning i had complete new races and bearings installed.

Hope with lots of PT and exercise, I'll soon be normally and get back on the trail again.

Do the exercises religiously at home. Also, don't be afraid to take the meds to keep ahead of the pain for the first week. I was driving after a month on the first one, about 2 weeks on the second one (not my gas pedal knee). Pretty much good to go after about 6 weeks. You can be hit by a mini bike in 4 weeks. :D

Once the bleeding stops, I've been bending and firing my quads. I'm religious about the pain meds.. this shit is quite painful. Thank you

Good for you! Your doc is a butcher but I hope it turns out well. I've had both done and the first 10 days, you will hate life Take all the drugs, you can get unaddicted later. Do ALL of the PT and make it hurt including tearing the scar tissue, it's totally worth it. Message me anytime if you have questions or comments. Good luck..
