I have a small smart..ish TV in the rv. It plays netflix, youtube etc..

What do I need to buy to be able to bluetooth video from my phone to the tv screen?

Following along cause I’m in the same boat. I think I just need to replace the head unit / DVD player that is in the entertainment Center so it is compatible. I would like to be able to BT my phone into the system as well

A lot of the streaming apps don't allow you to cast their content anymore from a mobile device. ie Netflix/Hulu

I tried a couple things from my iPhone for a while, then I went and got a $80 24" smart tv to solve the problem

They dont have it built in their app, but you can cast it through google home. Just use the mirror device option.

Unfortunately, bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth to stream video you're going to need to set up a network to stream over. Could just put a cheap router in your RV to stream between devices.

Anybody have anything for us IPhone people ?

Airplay will mirror your content from your iphone to any Airplay compatible device (AppleTV, etc). You still need Wi-fi for the Airplay device, but you could set up a wi-fi hotspot from your phone.

That works for me if I could figure out how to hotspot my phone. Ever since I went unlimited it’s like the option isn’t there. Mine is a iPhone 8 on AT&T.

My understanding is that AT&T regulates WiFi tethering through their phones. E.g. it has to be part of your plan, and you pay for it. And, they have it blocked for the old Unlimited plans... basically to prevent people for providing free data access to everyone....

FYI there are a couple apps out here that create a hotspot for you, doing so in a way that "hides" it from the carrier so it looks like its only you phone (a la true firewalled router style). I used to use FoxFi. haven't in a while since it's not a problem on my carrier
