so my 3in body lift has got to go, went on a little trip sunday and the mounts broke/flexed and now my whole cab moves. i had to run a strap through the cab to the frame so i could keep driving.
so i want to replace it with a 1in bodylift and had seen some people use hockey pucks.
do they work/ is that a good idea? i would rather spend my money on other things and im sure i can get some for free

I did one on my Jeep, Not sure how the body mounts are on the yotas, But you can look over this page of my build, down toward the bottom is the BL. I just looked up the installation instructions for a known 1 inch BL and ordered my parts from the parts list for the installation. Got the pucks from www.hockeygaint.com they were like a $1 a piece or so. I have about $20 in the one inch body lift. Its holding up very well.

Dude you've already just had 1 bad body lift experience - shouldn't you know to not do it the shafty way now?
You can buy a 1" BL fro 4Crawler.com pretty cheap.
Or, you can make your own out of the right material instead of hockey pucks.
Call up Triad plastics in winston, or any other plastics distributor, and buy a 2" diamter rod of UHMW plastic. You only need like a 14" stick. Then use a miter/chop saw to cut it into 1" pucks, and drill holes in the middle. Done.
I think my 1" BL cost about $14 total including grade 8 hardware.

well i am only doing the 1in BL to make maintenance and removing tranny etc easier in the future. but thats a good idea with the UHMW. i have no idea what a hockey puck feels like ive never had one.

I made a cheap-o body lift from sections of steel tube and welded washers to each end. I cut old mud flaps and drilled holes for the bolts and put one one each end of the puck. I ended up breaking the frame before I had any issue from the lift.

Re: material, you want something that won't stress/crack over time. The rubber in hockey pucks will dry out, get hard, then crack. Not like in the first month, but eventually... problem being that you don't know when, or which one.
UHMW is "self lubricating" if you will - and for the cost of a rod (minimal) i don't see a reason not to use that instead. Not sure what the Perf. Accessories ones are made of... technically more than making your own from UHMW but the difference is neglible compared to the effort saved.

I would worry about fixing the body mounts vs. the body lift. You got bigger problems than the body lift.
