I reversed polarity on my 4 stoke Yamaha Outboards starter and hydraullic tilt/trim motor for 5 mins. now neither will operate. What may have been damaged? I smelled no smoke but there was a spark at the battery terminal when I attached the second cable reversed. Thanks for any advice given, Randy

I just bought a starter relay for my fathers Yamaha 115, I believe the trim relay is the same. Was 70$ on boats.net if I remember correctly. I would check all of the fuses first though and there may be a circuit breaker on some of them.

Thanks, the T/T positive cable has an inline fuse that appears undamaged, the negative cable is staight. I assume there is a main fuse at the fuseblock on the engine but have'nt looked yet w the rain here now. I discovered the problem after trying to tilt the motor unsucessfully.

Thanks again Jason, I found the blown fuse on the engine and replaced it, now the T/T works and i'll try the motor soon. The other leads are obvously for the dash switch/accesories/lights and the main switch was off so I assume no damage was done there.
