Anything snazzy going on in Boone this weekend?

I'm coming in for a wedding (Sat).
Hitting Tweetsie Fri for the boy ("Thomas" is there?), have late Fri (after rehearsal) and Sat morning to kill.

yup- I'll be there. thats whats up!
seriously though, its the type place that you make your own fun. I'll be there hitting the trout waters.

I might be up there for a while also....drunk in a bar

You could bring the 4runner and head over to Mt. City Sat. morning.

Go hike Linville Gorge.

Hm, tempting... 'cept that'd mean driving the family down in it (9 hrs?), and having to keep it intact enough to drive home.
Which would be fine with me, but a hard sell for her...

Now THAT sounds very tempting.
It's probably been at least 5-6 years since I've been there.
If the family is going too, go to the Table Rock parking lot and either hike up Table Rock, or out to the Chimneys. Both are a great place to pack a lunch and spend a few hours.

Linville Caverns is interesting.

From Boone: Take NC 105 South to Linville. Turn right onto NC 181 at intersection in Linville Grandfather Mtn. sign directly in front of you) & travel to first traffic light, turning left onto US 221 South. Cave entrance on right in 15 mi. Approx. Travel Time: 40-50 mins.

I'll be here....Stuck at the shop....Trying to get caught up.....If you wana stop and help me get some 5.9L's tore down lol

Hm.
Lynville... tearing down 5.9.
Sorry.
Maybe I could swing by and laugh.

If you want to see a real untouched cave, head to Worley's in Tenneesee. No lights at all, completely untouched. Awesome place

Linville Gorge is a good 45 minutes from Boone if you take 105. Ive never been to the Table Rock side of the Gorge, only the Kistler Memorial highway side, so it could be a little less time.

You could hike up Grandfather. Its maybe 20 minutes away or so. 5 dollars for most of their trails, its like 14 or something for the ones in the park (worth it too, they are AWESOME!)

Like Chuckman said, you really need to make your own fun in Boone.

the caverns sound cool. the fiance and i have been trying to get up that way for a while to check it out. The untouched cavern sounds even cooler.

Problem with the untouched one though...

You really need to go with someone who has been there. Its very easy to get lost. Also need to have gear (head lamps, and hard hats) and you need to be prepared for lots and lots of mud!

Id post up a few pics of the cave that I got when I went, but Im not with the computer that has the pics right now.

To get to the untouched cave...Do you take 321 past the lake, and eventually take a left into a gravel parking lot, right at a bridge? The parking lot is for a hiking trail...not the caves.

The ones I went to, you would park to the left of a bridge, get out and walk back under the bridge, sneak past someones back yard, then climb the side of the mountain on a trail and enter the caves.

Was very fun, Dangerous, Dark, cool, and muddy. Definately dangerous. The caves went on forever. It was awsome.

Is this the place you are talking about?

Dunno if those are the ones Dylan. The one we went to seems to be that way, but the cave is legit to go into, as long as you write your name on a list at the guys house, so theres no real sneaking around.

As for it being "untouched" I meant more along the lines of "un touristy"
