I’m looking for some boulders to build a short retaining wall. I can get quarried boulders easily but I don’t like the look of those.

I am looking for some that are weathered and have some moss on them, etc. kind of what you’d find while hiking through the woods.

Most places have quarried boulders from what I can tell. Anyone have a source or have some on their land they want to part with? I can arrange loading and hauling.

I’m looking for an average size of a car engine, some bigger, some smaller. Probably need about 300-500 pieces, maybe more depending on how far I go with it.

Any ideas?

BTW, what you're looking for are called "huggable boulders" around here. Last time I bought about a dozen of them, paid by the ton, cost a hundred bucks or so. I think they came out of Virginia, but were in stock at the local specialty stone supply.

I could get by without ones with moss and such but was more of a reference for a look. I want something more natural looking than quarried stones run through a crusher. I have a crap load at work but they are remnants from us blasting and all have sharp edges, not the weathered natural look.

I’m also going to be on the hunt for some heat-tolerant roderdenderin amd mt laurel

Nothing to add, but now every time I see this thread title in my feed I instantly hear the donkey fro Shrek saying “I like that boulder, that’s nice boulder!”

Slide up this way and get some cuttings from flower hill to propagate

I've seen a few areas around Mecklenburg, where their just covering the woods. All pretty much very close to River areas. You'd have to fine a property owner & then go in with a skid steer. I don't know any for sale, other than maybe a landscape supply. So maybe check around some River land.
