But I will say that if he had a bow and arrow, or knife or a big rock and was a threat the cops did what they were supposed to. If a bow and arrow can kill a deer it can do the same to a person. A little known fact is that someone with a knife can kill you from 21' away before you can even get a gun out of the holster and fire a shot.

It works for me, anyways 2 Buncombe co. Deputies went to arrest a sex offender from the west coast for failing to register here. He ran towards them and shot his hunting bow at them so they returned fire and shot him dead.
 
Ok no loss there. That's what happens when you bring a knife....err a bow to a gun fight.

21 foot rule is the one you speak of and yes you can cut someone with a knife before they can draw thier sidearm... Seen it happen first hand.
 
I've killed many deer w guns and bows/broadheads and I would personally rather be shot w a gun If I had a choice. A well placed broadhead will kill quickly every time from the unstopable hemmoraging. A bullet will obviously cause damage, but a 2, 3 or 4 edged razorblade thrust through a body Is very lethal, very quickly. I've had deer run further after a good rifle shot than the same hit from a bow many times.
