Hey everyone

I don't know if you've heard about the Gambler 500, but if not its worth a Google. It's just a bunch of people with home built 'rally' (using that term loosely) cars who want to drive and have a good time.

There's a group here in NC that want to organize a race based out of the Raleigh area. The problem is that they are having trouble finding trails around here. I haven't been able to find much so I was hoping yall could help out. I know there is Uwharrie not too far but that is less rally driving and more crawling.

Any suggestions for locations would be greatly appreciated.

Check their facebook page "Gambler 500 North Carolina". Maybe if they get enough support/interest they'll make something happen.

You're going to have a really hard time finding anything. In 1989, the NC Legislature directed NCDOT to pave all the gravel and dirt roads. They've been hard at work in the 30 years since, to the point where there aren't really any left. The most significant ones are are Federally-owned land.

My buddy’s just did this and said it was a blast I was at the hammers or I would have gone

They’re doing one in Ocala Florida in April.
If I had a beater rig, that would be a dope road trip.
Heard they did one in TN recently too.
Now to find the biggest land yacht and weld up the rear diff. :D

Haven’t googled it, but I think there’s one around Cheraw somewhere every year.

Looks to be a lot of fun!!!

There are still all the gravel access roads in Uwharrie. They could use some of them without hitting terrain that would be unfriendly to car driving participants.

From what I have read on this forum, a stock suv can walk anything at uwharrie.

But seriously, I would be down for something like that for sure.
