Hello, my dad bought me a 2007 RUBICON for my birthday, and i think it just broke. Can someone tell me what is wrong with it?

Well it started when i was adding bass and a stereo system, and i blew a fuse, and THOUGHT i replaced them all. Later that day i was driving on the highway and my 4WD light came on but i was already in 4wd because i leave it in 4wd. i figured it was somthing wrong with the enigne so i tried to shift it to 4-Wheel-Low.

It wouldnt go at first so i forced it into 4WLow and all of the sudden i heard loud noises and my jeep jumped and jerked and then i shifted into reverse by accident and there was a bunch of banging and my jeep stalled out and skidded into a ditch. Now i have a jeep with a dented fender, and whenever I start it and try to drive it, it wont go because both of my front wheels are pointed inwards.

How do i fix this?

Also who would my jeep just randomly Break like this?

WELL, rubi's have a 4:1 in the t-case. So the jumping and stuff was caused by you being in low gear on the pavement. Unless you didnt' have the jeep in neutral when you tried to shift it, which would mean you're dumb, but it would account for the jumping if by some chance it actually went into low gear. If both of your wheels are pointed inwards you broke something, prolly a tie rod, but who knows. You sound like you don't know much about vechicles, so if I were you, i'd get it towed to a shop.

But on another note, why the hell do you keep it in 4wd all the time? It has 2wd for a reason.

So I guess the best advice I have is sell it and get a honda

The best place to find answers to questions like this is to ask your jeep. Start your engine and talk into the little microphone pipe hanging under the bumper:popcorn:

I wouldn't say I don't know alot about cars, i have had alot of cars. I have just never had a manual until now. This is my second rubicon and my last one was an automatic. I have been off roading for a while though and i do know a little about 4x4's.
I have done all of the work on this vehicle so far my self.

also, to answer your question, the reason i keep it in 4wd all of the time is because i have Interco Super Swamper Boggers on it and i want them to all wear exactly the same way.

The jeep is already at my house, i am just trying to figure out how to prevent this problem in the future and fix it now. Also, no i didn't have it in neutral when i shifted it into 4Low, but i had slowed down from highway speeds to only like 35mph. It must have been already broken before i shifted it though, because it was grinding before it finally went in.

:wtf:
This has to be a joke. If this is not a joke you need to leave this forum and go smack your father and demand he take you to driving school:shaking:
You've owned 18 cars.......aww fawk it. This is going to get good once the sun comes up....

Someone read the audi thread and thought they'd make a funnay.

You're not funny.

Snnnnnnnnnnnnnnnifffffffffffffffff

BULLSHIT

Then again he did create a new here thread andd his hotmail is garyjeeper@hotmail.com

So I'll try.
#1 You do not run a Jeep in 4wd all the time. Read your owners manual but 4wd should be reserved to probably 25-30mph and under
#2 you never shift into Lo unless stopped and in neutral. If you forced it through the first sound you heard was thee gears grinding against each other. If it DID go into 4Lo at speed (which I doubt) that is designed fopr a max speed of around 10mph.

#3 none of the first 2 would cause you to hit a ditch though. If you did hit a ditch it is because you are from California and simply cant drive. Its ok, no one out there can drive. You should just turn in your license at this point there is no hope for you.

#4 If the 2 front tires are pointing inwards, it is a sure sign that your Jeep it is a bisexual bitch. At this point it has been ass raped by you, now it needs some pu**y. Dont fret, you can help just go sit in it a while without driving, that should straighten the tires right out. make vrooom vroom sounds while you sit. If anyone walks up and asks what you are doing, use the classic reply, "Its a Jeep thing you wouldnt understand"

Finally given th time and all, Im thinking CHUCK....

Take some pictures and post 'em up! We want to see if you really are this stupid!

Hey man, I can fix it. Shoot me a PM, and we'll get the jeep dropped off at my shop. Ill need the title dropped off as well, and Ill need you to sign it. My insurance requires it. I should be able to get it fixed for pretty much free. Ill call you when its done, it may take a while.

I cant stop laughing

You can't be for real. If you are all you got to do is drain the oil from your transfer case & fill it with saw dust & sand mixed with a little water & drive for 10 miles this will make all those annoying noises of metal grinding go away

I was laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes

update: The ditch broke the long skinny steering bar in front of the axle. I think i have welded it back together pretty thoroughly.

Also, i know that it isnt supposed to go in 4low. Thats why it was so hard to get it in there. i guess i wasnt goin 35 by the time it was in, probably like 25.

I still dont know how to fix my shifter though. It is stuck in 4low. Is this fixable?

Also: Paradiseoffroad- the boggers are not crooked, they are all 4 straight. I used to work at a tire shop and i know how to balance them. Would airing them down too far on the highway make them mess up?

OK, since you're being nice and everybody is giving you a hard time I"ll help. The reason the shifter won't shift is because your muffler bearings are screwed up. A good way to check this is to let the jeep sit and idle, IN NEUTRAL e-brake engaged, for a good 45 mins to a hour, reving it to around 3500 rpms every so often. Then go grab the muffler. If its hot, your muffler bearings aren't allowing the exhaust to roll out as it should and its causing to much back pressure and not letting the tranny release the t-case to shift.

Just order a couple of these http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?mai..._id=10&zenid=060e49bf6b2d26d339e8fd4d65edecab and then send the whole shabangbang to Jeepinmatt, including the title so he can fix it for free.

I feel kinda bad for being a dick, one day we should get together and I'll buy you some wheat grass shots and we can talk about how awesome it would be to have Hillary win in '08.

believe me, i have checked the whole undercarriage and the exhaust system looks fine. theres no way its the muffler

I am stuck in the initial post of being in 4hi all the time. Why? I say call Jeep and tell them you need a refund cause yours is broke.

cant get a refund...my 30,000 mile warrenty went out when i put the lift on it because we bought it from a dealership other than JEEP. Its stupid i know.

The reason it is in 4wd all the time, like i ALREADY SAID is because i have brand new boggers on it and i dont want the rear ones wearing out before the front ones. my old grand cherokee was all wheel drive all the time so it shouldnt be a problem.

yeah but the grand cherokee AWD system is alot different the 4WD... the AWD system has things in it to act as a differential so that it will allow the front and rear driveshaft to spin a lil differently, sorta like an open diff in your axle....

the tires will wear just fine if you rotate them regularly... well as fine as boggers can on the street...

if it were me, id go ahead and swap in some 60s and an atlas... cuz im suprised that case aint sittin in your lap right now

early this morning i welded the steering back together so my tires are straighter now. today after lunch i took it into my friends shop, and we got it out of 4low and drove it.

more problems:

when i first hit the gas it wouldnt go, so i hit it harder and it finally jerked forward and made nasty noises. Then for the next 100 or so yards it made a noise like nails on a chalkboard until it finally popped and is quiet now. what would that be? gears?

if i take the gears out of my front axle but leave the driveshaft will i still have 4low?

also someone asked for pictures, i will post some asap but i am in the middle of taking the roll cage out so i will probably just wait untill its all done before i take pictures.
