Broken Main Leaf

I have a set of Rancho 2.5" lift springs on my Scout. Today I noticed my main leaf is cracked where it meets the bushing wrap on the front end. Not sure how long it's been this way, but I'm glad I found it this way and not in a fiery crash!

These specific springs aren't available new any longer. Chances of me finding a replacement used set are very slim.

I am not trying to redo my entire front suspension with a spring over or different/custom springs. I want the lowest cost fix that replaces at least this main leaf and will keep the same ride height.

My question is, are there any shops near Raleigh that would be able to make a new main leaf, maybe one for each front pack so they are the same left and right? Any suggestions?

FYI, scout springs are 2" wide.

WOW! Looks like there's not much holding that from falling apart.

Not sure about local, but I'm running a set of Alcan springs that I had made and they're awesome. They're out in Colorado. I always talked with the owner when I called and he took care of me even though it wound up costing him quite a bit of money in shipping. I'm sure it'd be a quick and easy phone call, I'm just not sure if they would do a single leaf. All you'd have to do is ask!

They'd need to know:

Spring length (hole to hole in the bushings)
bushing/bolt sizes
width
center pin location

Being that it's only one leaf, it shouldn't affect the spring rate very much. However, now would be a good time to just build a new leaf pack. You could do a military wrapped set that has two wraps around each bushing. It looks like you have plenty of room on the shackle end, not sure about the frame mounted end.

Granted, that's exactly what you said you didn't want to do, but if you provide them with accurate information, you'll get a set of springs that matches your ride height currently and ones that will ride and flex better.

I read your Alcan thread before posting this. If I bite off a new set of front springs, it'll likely be Alcan or Deaver. I've heard good things about each company.

I went with Alcan because they were quite a bit cheaper.

Make sure they're actually available. I've been through that before buying parts and especially with the boots that I wear. Every place I checked said they had it on their website, but I called and they had been long discontinued.

Edit: Did some digging and apparently the RS 820 was discontinued in 2006. Hate to rain on your parade, but maybe you'll get lucky and someone will actually have a set laying around. I wound up calling a boot store up in Greenville, NC where I had originally purchased my boots and he had two pair that would fit me....so I bought them both :D

Got a reply from Autoplicity stating they'd be shipping from the manufacturer. I called Rancho and they said they had zero in stock. So, it appears a new spring may not be available.

I did find a shop in downtown Winston Salem (Auto Spring) that can make a custom replacement main leaf for ~$100. That's now my preferred option. We'll see how it goes.
