I was standing a few feet away when 5000lbs of force finally got to this test press.Steel is 1.75 Thick

Also cracked two other post...press has been scraped.
20+ years of pressure did her in...new one in design phase

Now thats a press, you said 5000lbs, did you mean 50000lbs or was it just time for her to give up.

What does that their machine thingy do (besides the obvious answer like: its a press)? Is it for a particular step in a manufacturing process? Just curious.

It is used to test the valve

The "press" is used to lock the test plates onto the valve while water pressure is forced in a test plate into the valve to check the valve for leaks.
I valve in the pic was being tested @ 1600 PSI almost double it's working PSI

How about this one... I was up visiting one of my companies suppliers, at a paper mill in Wisconsin and saw this monster. I asked a coworker to jump in for a picture to show the scale of it.
