bronco ll

Well... I had two of them. An '86 and an '88.

The '86 rolled when I went around a turn going down onto 40 from Miami Blvd...

The '88 was blown sideways into the guardrail while going 45 mph when I crossed an ice covered bridge one morning.

But... when I played with them off-road... I never had a problem. The '86 was originally from W.V. and the owner had changed out the low gears and had put some granny arse gears in so it would crawl all day long. The '88 stayed mostly in the mud. :D

Both had the V6 in them and I could do pretty much all the work needed myself. Oil changes were a breeze because of the clearance of the 4wd.

I liked both of them and sometimes wish I had another... but I look in the driveway and see my Jeep and think... I got the better of the two now. :D

yes get a yota

Yea, a yota will be tons more reliable.

sell the ford and get a yota, heck i would even take a jeep before i have a bronco. a toyota is a very capable offroad vehicle very light and is just badass vehicle. stock toyota will do 3x what a stock bronco will.

If you get a 1st gen 4runner, you'll get the back seat like the Bronco, but you can take the top off (unlike the Bronco IIs....). Power will not be the same though.

Bronco II V-6 2.8, and 2.9. make pretty decent power in factory form, big tires kill them. Both have thin cast heads so cracked heads are common. There are after market heads to fix this. One weak link is the auto's, the A4LD's don't hold up very good even with good maintenance, from my experience. The front ends and hubs are also weak, not something that will hold up off road or with bigger meats.

i've had 5 of em. love em. But everyone is right. lots of weak points. dana 28 front axle and for 7.5 rear. Bone stock is just not an option. Cheap is just not an option.

The good news is....as things break its a great excuse for a 351w, C4, Dana20, and big ole axles.

sherrod conversions made lots of covertible bronco IIs, theres onefor sale in winston....but it needs LOOOOTS of work

OK so I was wrong. I did not know that it was a dealer option (from what I'm gathering, from a limited selection).
