i gotta 94 bronco with a 351 and auto trans i noticed when i drive it easy it shifts rough but if i drive it hard it shifts a lil easier it 194000 miles is it too late to chage filter lol i heard not to change em after 100000 or could the problem be something else i noticed the fluid smells kinda scorched but im not big on transmissions so i dont really know what to try

If it hasn't been changed, don't change it. The new fluid will wash off the sludge that is sealing everything in there and the trans will be toast. Kinda sounds like it's on it's way to being toast anyway though. I'd just drive it till it died then decide if you like it enough to fix it.

At 194k your E4OD is getting to the end of it's life. I wouldn't swap the filter and fluid, for fear of losing whatever 'grit' is left. Sadly though, you probably don't have but a max of 50k before you'll be facing a $1500 rebuild.

You are in luck. Since you have a 351 that means you should have a C6. If you pull it yourself you should be able to get a rebuild for about $400

Not trying to hijack...but I thought they stopped putting the C6 behind the 351 in Broncos in the early 90's like 91-92ish.

id replace the filter and top off the fluid before the rebuild, since your already looking at 1500.00 whats 30 bucks... but youll still prob need a trans oneday soon

Thanks for the advice ill probably just drive til it goes and get it rebuilt i only got 800 invested in the whole thing lol

You could do a zf5 speed swap cheaper than rebuilding the aod
