I'm planning on going to one of the two places on May 23 for Swampy's shakedown run. I wanna go to one of the two places because they are close to home incase something flys all to shit. Anyone else game?

It is technically closed...unless you go with someone who knows the landowners and people up there. Directions to it should not get posted up.

Also its not a place to break and leave your rig. You might not have one when you go back to get it.

It is a non-maintained state road that goes through from Lenoir to Blowing Rock. It is not closed, but basically anything off of the main road is trespassing and destroying private property, and the main road is fairly boring.

richlands

Richlands can get pretty sketchy. I'm pretty sure we came across some old Meth shacks down there once. I asked an officer up here in Boone about it and he said it was very possible that they were.
IF for any reason anyone were to get out there, don't leave you car because there is a good chance that you'll come back to it gone.... no joke.

sorry..but this isn't technically true. The richlands are technically on lock-down UNLESS you know property owners up there. Ugh..its so friggin complicated. The playgrounds are PRIVATE property the road goes through the playground.

I rolled my pathfinder in the richlands once....I didn't leave it's side until help came. Many people go ridding and drinking through there at night. They will shoot up/burn your rig if you leave it there. It harmless during the day and I have even camped there at night. There are some balls to the wall hill climbs:Rockon:

I'd say Brown Mtn would be the best choice because of secure place to park. It's also completly legal if you buy a pass for 5 bucks. There are some nasty trails out there. I'm not sure if they are marked for truck now or not.

I think that trails #1 and #8 are the only ones for trucks. I've taken my 4runner out there. Its not too rowdy, but can be fun if you make it. The top of trail #1 up at the slickrock is a cool place to check out. It's always cool to drive around on slickrock.

The only part that sucks is the dirty looks from all the people on dirt bikes/ 4 wheelers.

I've camped out there many times back in highschool. good times :)

I don't think there is any thing that can be done if you drive through Richland rd, it is technically a state rd. Going off of the rd is a different story. I like to go there with my daughter and let her play in the creek down by the cemetery. As far as Brown mtn goes, you can go every where legal there in a yj with 33's open in 2wd, seriously.

I plan on accidently getting on the wrong trail if the place isn't flooded with dirt bike riders. There are some Big Big rocks back in there. I've heard the rangers don't care are long as you're not mauling trees or being disrespectful.

I talked to a few people and they said the place will be flooded with dirt bikes and that trucks on the trails posted for dirt bikes and ATVs wouldn't be permitted.
How about Mtn City? I know a some other guys that are going that weeked:driver:

fix that bitch...gimme a call if you need a hand

1 stgen i know a guy who owns over a 1000 acres in the richlands so if thats where you wanna go let me know you got my number. and if you break thats good cause i get to drive the dozer to get you out. cause i know how it is we used to go there when we were in high school all the time and its only like 30min from the house.

hmm

where are we going to park the tow rigs?

well we have to go in on the buffalo cove side and im not taking a ton of people it would just be me and you and maybe a few others but not alot of people im good but not that good.

I can make it thru richlands in 2wd. I think I busted the chain, havent had time to check yet. my other 231 has the sye on it and I dont have a driveshaft

If you can make it on a weekday/afternoon, you will be the only person there. At least for the next few weeks until summer. I'd be willing to join sometime next week.
If you go on a weekend, it will suck.
