take 30 min trying to get threw on phone to crapy timewarner cable and then get a screwed up auto mated pile of junk that dumps every phone call. :flipoff:

then finaly find local phone number in a phone book that i had to dig up cause i dont have a local one as i am new to the area. :kaioken:

then i find out the basic cable no box or anything special and roadruner standerd non turbo all together per month will be just over 100 bucks. :wtf:

god why do we as humans put up with paying so much money for such crapy service and then channels that are just full of junk or way to many ad's and no real tv shows on them .

i need to just go live in a cave or a van down by the river. :handed:

TW phone-in customer service does blow, been there.

I am paying $86-ish for basic expanded cable (non-digital, still get roughly 74 channels, no box), and RR-lite (not regular). I am in Guilford county, not Forsyth though.

I can't get cable where I live, so I pay $80/month for a phone line to get DSL internet service that is super slow compared to RR from TW cable. I don't even use the home phone. I then also pay $65/month for DirecTV satellite. $145/month for TV and internet.

Told TW to kiss my aaaaa$$$$! Now have Direct and Verizon air card and I like it.

dont forget..then when you do get that roadrunner service set up...its gonna suck.

x10 on OTA reception...I dumped cable and went to antenna maybe 3 years ago...worth every penny (and didn't cost me a cent...WRAL was running a free antenna program then). I get maybe 25 channels, that's more than enough TV for me.

BASIC cable. Local channels plus a couple others like VH1 Classic and National Geographic is only about $8/mo. RR Lite is supposed to be about $29. Netflix is another $9/mo. With that package, you've got all the TV you could hope to watch. You could even say "screw the basic" and save yourself another $8.

Get whatever internet you want, $10 a month netflix, and a $15 cable to connect your computer to the TV. Then you get a new movie every 4-5 days, and you can watch all kinds of shows and TV series on the "instant" part of Netflix and Hulu.

Had a similar problem with Time Warner last year, had the digital boxes, they wanted to hike up my bill after the first year, told them to shove it, they came and got the boxxes and all that, but left my regular cable hooked up lol. No skin off my back.

My brothers current deal is 76 a month for roadrunner and basic cable through his apartment complex I believe.

I have U-verse too, I love it. Their customer service sucks donkey nuts, but the product is good enough that I don't mind having to call them every 3 months to ask why they screwed up my billing.

You're lucky, it's every month for us. I've been thinking about ditching cable TV all together. Just too dang expensive.

U-verse FTW in terms of TV. However their internet packages are super slow.

Really, I'd recommend hooking up your computer to your TV and watching shows online. My friend does that. If there is a ball game on then he will walk his happy ass down to the bar and watch it.

I'm half way thinking of going that way myself.

Can you guys give some examples of how AT&T has screwed up your billing? My bill is the same every month, so unless every bill has been screwed up I think I'm ok.

Well, mine was pretty consistent. Then I decided to add the VOIP phone to my service. By all my calculations I was going to save money, and the lady on the phone told me it would be something like $133 for everything. My bill came and it was $215. Made no sense, my land line was more expensive than the VOIP and somehow my bill went up $30. After much arguing, then dropped it down and gave me a credit. The next months bill was wrong too, and then the "one year free U300 upgrade" ended up being a one month deal and my bill went up. Got them to credit me that and fix it, then they upgraded my internet without telling me and charged me for that. Called back and they dropped that and credited me too. There have been other issues as well.

I'm just waiting to have another screwed up bill.

Oh, and for a warning, the free on-demand movies still show up on your bill. Glad I get the mail so I didn't have to explain Vegas Showgirls to my wife.

Lol @ the "Vegas Showgirls" thing.

I guess mine has been ok because I haven't changed anything.

That's the exact type of problem I was having with TWC though. They would raise my bill by about $60 a month ever 6 months like clockwork. You know they're going to drop it when you call in and threaten to drop the service, but after three or four years of that cycle I was absolutely fed up with them.

I'd get rid of cable altogether if I didn't have two housemates who split it with me. Can't complain too much about having two DVRs, HBO, and decently fast internet for $44 a month per person; but I think I'd drop the cable stuff if I had to pay the whole $133 by myself.
