Buc-ee's Smoker Reconnaissance

If anyone stops at any Bucee's in the next week or two I'd appreciate you looking at their smokers for me. I am looking to buy an Old Country BBQ model Brazos or Brazos DLX.
I can't find the smoker anywhere locally. Tractor supply, Academy and Buc-ee's carry the brand. Academy and Tractor supply you can order them and pick up in store. I'd rather have a few to choose from instead of ordering one. I've read that welds vary greatly, dents and warped lids are common. It's the lowest priced 1/4" steel smoker you can buy.

So if you are stopping in the Florence Buc-ee's (or any others for a guesstimate of what might be in Florence) I'd appreciate a count of how many Brazos smokers are there and how much $$ they are. I tried finding a phone number but you can only call one main number in TX. NO local number for any of their stores.

It is about 2 1/2 hour drive time and I plan on making the trip but it would be nice to know before I go there.

I had one of these years back got it for free from the side of the road it was rusted out firebox etc. Patched it up and ran it 3-4 years. Buy you a Workhorse pit and never buy another one. 3/8" firebox and cook chamber. Had one since 2020 looks like new and fire management is way easier than the brazos. I gave the brazos away to someone I don't like if that tells you anything.
 
This is my first offset smoker, the additional $1000 for a workhorse is out of my budget. I appreciate the advice, must have been extremely old or neglected if 1/4 steel rusted out. They do make lower end models with 12 gauge steel. Its definitely a step up from the Oklahoma Joe.
 
May not help, but BIL just bought one online from bbq-guys or bbq-hq...I just texted him to ask the name of the site.
Said he paid $1,100 delivered...
 
Yeah the oklahomo joes has fallen off severely after they sold to char broil. They were okay for a while but then shifted over seas and turned into tinfoil. I still have a “early charbroil OK Joe” and it’s been alright. Saw one in Lowe’s a couple weeks ago and the whole thing probably weighs just what the smoke box on mine weighs. (Same model)

Don’t take long for them to rot. Always amazes me.
 
@No fries Im currently in Brunswick Ga. and have a Buc-ee’s less then a mile from me. Send me what all questions you have and I’ll go by tomorrow. I also drive through fort mill about once a month so could potentially get it to you if that’s what you decide.

Just want to know if they have old country Brazo and or Brazos DLX. Price of each and how many are available. Im considering driving to Florence Buc-ee's to buy one. I have no idea what they are charging and what to expect for availability. There is no way to contact any stores via phone.

I think it is from neglecting to clean them out. Ash is acidic and will eat it out especially when left in the firebox and is wet from rain or just humidity.

Are you telling me they haven't put a Buc-ee's up near you or Charlotte yet? I thought I saw where another one was coming to SC? Might have been Greenville.....

I think there is one coming to Columbia maybe. and Mebane? Currently only one in Florence SC and Pigeon Forge are the two "closest"

OK thanks I really appreciate it. That makes me wonder if it is worth the 2-1/2 hour ride to Florence to hope they have one, Or just order one locally.

@Ron BBQ HQ has them but won't ship them here. Prices are good and shipping is free over $1,000.00 but what good is that if you won't ship them to me. BBQ Guys I can order for about the same price or more, so Academy may be my best bet.

Actually I just looked it up is going to be in Hardeeville. Basically the GA - SC State line which surprises me. Looks like the one in Mebane is the first in NC.

Mebane, North Carolina: May 2027 (first in NC)
Hardeeville, South Carolina: 2031

I don't go that way too often but if I do and don't see this updated I'll check.
