My buddy has an all stock 92 XJ, he put new leaf springs under it and now he has a vibration when he gets around 30-40mph. Driveshaft? Pinion? Any ideas?

Was it lift springs? If so how tall? Driveline angles get weird and cause vibrations when Cherokees are lifted past 4.5 inches without a SYE.

Yes leaf springs, not sure oh height but it was close to stock

Then it shouldn't be a slip yoke problem. I would try replacing the u joints in the drive shaft and work from there... u joints only run around $10 at a parts store

I know he has done the rear already

I also vote the ujoints in the dshaft. Even putting stock leafs on a very old vehicle can moreso reveal worn ujoints.

not familiar with xj springs, but if the pin is not center, is it possible he put them on backwards, changing castor? just a thought

I doubt it he is very OCD. So if the front ujoints are bad it could cause vibration

If you flip them you move the center pin back 5" and the rear axle into the fuel tank.....cheap easy WB stretch. Except then you have to move the fuel tank into the rear.

Done what? Replace the both joints in the rear shaft? Is it 4wd? If it is remove the front shaft and see if it still has vibrations. That will confirm it's in the rear.

I removed the front driveshaft and the vibrations are still present. It vibrates consistently between 30 and 40mph, under moderate to heavy acceleration through all speeds, and while coasting at interstate speeds. I replaced both rear driveshaft u-joints last week.

As stated earlier before I replaced the leaf springs I had zero issues with the jeep. Along with the leaf springs (dorman 929-301) I also replaced the shackles, sway bar bushings and sway bar end links.

Looks like several other people have had similar issues after installing new leaf springs on other forums. Several mention checking the rear pinion angle. I am going to check that this weekend. Unfortunately no other forums I have read have actually indicated a solution.

I am new to the forum and would like to thank everyone for the suggestions and comments so far. Thanks!

If the angles are off it could vibrate. If the pinion bearing is worn it could cause vibration.
The other option might be that the new springs have a different/newer bushing and are transferring more vibration through the vehicle.
