IIRC the alt is regualted from the computer. It's not as easy to turn them up from what I have read. 5-90 is a good source for electrical info over there. I'd try him first.

thinks for the tips i heard that a zj alt will work. and thought about a chevy one also

on the 3.4l in toyota tacomas and 4runners you can run another wire from the alt. post to the positive terminal on the battery and it will give you .1 volts extra.....

One of the best upgrades to an XJ is a lower guage wire from teh alt to the battery. THe factory one is crap small.
