my jeep isnt a buggy but i have a small driveshaft problem that buggies prob run into.

i put a dana300 into my xj with a chevy 60. well my front drive shaft only has like 4-5" of down travel before it maxes out.
how do i fix this? my shaft is a cut down front xj shaft(dbl cardon w/e)
ive seen things like double shafts or some thing.

You can get joints with an offset cross. They canhave give you a$75 couple ofof extra degrees. Call Dave at Olivers in Winston. He is the man on driveshafts.

Pillow block is the same as carrier bearing right? That's not going to help at all. I would just grind out the cv where the joints hit. Most buggies have longer front driveshafts.

The problem is the travel on the shaft right? They make shafts with longer splines that have more travel. I know that CCC truck parts in Charlotte sells and builds them. Probably somewhere closer around here that would too. I think its 12" of spline, which should easily give you 6-8" of travel.

its not the spline engagement, its the double cardon thing. it maxes it pivot point at like 5" under my pinion.
i guess i have my 300 clocked up to high. but my floor is already cut and i like it being high. might rotate it down one hole and grind the shaft.
still got to lift it a lil more to clear more inner fender and front fenders.

Sorry my post was all garbled up. I sent from my Droid and it has autotext. I didnt proof read it before I sent it.

They make a u-joint that instead of being a standard inline cross with the x and y axis in line, it has one of the axis offset by something like 3/8". It will spread the union of the cv apart so that you can get a couple more degrees of drop in the shaft without having to grind on the cv itself. Just an option. They also make higher degree CV's, but you can drop some big coin on them. I would just suggest rotating tcase.
