ok i have a tj and was wondering if anyone had ever heated and bent the steering rod? I was going to flip the drivers side but wondered if i could bend the passenger side up alittle between the tierod and the hole where the draglink connects.

That rod is weak already.....probably a bad idea.

the rod i would be bending is about 1" around. I thought the tie rod ends were the weak parts.

The stock drag link is notoriously weak as well.

heat is bad idea on a drag link just do the driverside link flip.

As zubz said, they are already really weak. Heating it will cause the material to be more brittle, and more likely to break instead of bend. Also, bending it will greatly increase the stress on it, as it is made to work with straight line forces.
