Building a small grill

Friend of mine wants me to build his sister a small table top grill out of an old freon tank he has. He want to fuel it with the small coleman cylinders.

Has anybody ever built a burner for a grill?
Any advice or warnings?

Never tried building one.
Sourcing the burner itself is the hard part. In the past I've scavenged old stoves on roadside or got lucky and found a junk bumper pull camper. I'd mount the burner assembly in a housing (freon cylinder would act as this), and buy the adapter fittings for the tank I wanted.

I've cut slits in a pipe before. used it as a burner to catch wood on fire to run a smoker.

it would work great if you placed a deflector above it.

really depends how you want to cook

why make it hard on yourself ,plenty of burners and deflectors to be sourced online or at local hardware store. Hell I would even pick up the grate from there. I would try to use cast iron burner with a stainless grate for longevity

I've got some 3/4" #9 flattened expanded metal laying around for the grate. Just need to source a burner.

I had a pig cooker that was made this way. It worked good.
