Our group is looking for a location in the Hickory area to host a young adult worship service once a month. We don't need much just electricity for band equipment, projector, and speakers. We are trying to provide a place for all to come and experience God's love without the "Church" setting and stigmas. We don't need anything fancy, the more battered the better.

We had a place lined up, but they have closed their doors. We were planning on starting the 8th of January, so we are in a mad dash.

I will post more later when we have a location. Downtown is where we are focused now.

Contact me with any ideas please!
Thanks,
Ryan

can I ask...why once a month?

Seems like the investment in a building would be more worth while if you did the service more often?

It might help if we knew what size group you are talking about. As you said "everyone" that could be quiet a few folks. If you are talking band, then you have to consider any type of noise ordinances and so on.
A band a friend and I started several years back use the Recreation center to practice once a week(in Morganton). Any building that isn't used during the hours you are wanting would be where I would start looking
Good Luck!

Our group consist of 50 people that meet weekly at homes for small group discussion and such. We hope to get around 300 or so meeting monthly and maybe switch to weekly. We would like to have a space to possibly rent or use for free. We are not looking to buy or lease at the moment. Charotteone is already up and going and they have 500 weekly.

We have church that we can use, but we are trying to attract 20-30 year olds that love Christ, but not the church, or at least what most churches have become. We want a place that anyone can come to and hear the gospel in an open way. No pews, steeples, or bells, just simple fellowship and direction.

Charlotteone.org has been going strong for a few years and we'd like to something like taht here.

The YMCA downtown has a nice new building that might fit your needs...its already got a stage in it I believe.

Not sure how you rent it out. It cant fit 300 people...but 100..possibly.

not shure if its a church or not but there is a big building beside the crawdad's field and the airport off 321 behind the airport?? i think it said worship center on the sign

Yes, that is a church beside Crawdads stadium. We already have a church campus in Mt. View that we can use. I would love to find an old mill or warehouse that we could use.

I'll have to look into the YMCA.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Have you looked at using a school or a movie theater? Our church started out at a movie theater, out grew it, and now meets in a high school auditorium. Another church in our area meets at the elementary school across from where I live.

nothing useful to offer but you got me curious as heck here about this or maybe intrigued is the better word.

Read a fantastic book called, "Who stole my church" by Gordon MacDonald, we are facing alot of that where I attend.

But it also really jacked me up on the possibilities and the things we are seeing like you guys are proposing!!

I hope you find your place!
Sam

We got a place for the 8th!

Hybread Grill beside Drips Coffee in downtown Hickory. I'll get an address and website soon. We are looking at the Carolina Theater downtown and hope that other opportunities arrise.

We really feel that this will grow tremendously! We've been working and planning this for several months now.

I will keep everyone posted! Be sure to check this again!

Shinton, we know the need and pray that God will use us to deliver it!

We would like to keep it in downtown Hickory so that when we are done people can continue conversation and we have places to go within walking distance, bar, coffee house etc. Yes, I said bar, Jesus drank wine, whats a little beer hurt? (in moderation)

Speaking of which, the first thing I thought of was Jim Baker's son that had his church services in bars and clubs during the day. Great multi-use and certainly much less intimidating and formal than the average sanctuary. I hope it works out.

Resurrection Family Church, formerly the building was called the Clemmons Center...

RFC is usually pretty particular about their parking lot except on Crawdad Game nights...Im sure this goes for their building too.
