Bump stops

After having 4" travel air bumps on my last rig (16" coilovers), I'll never go back to anything else. So yeah they're $300-400 a pair, cheaper than replacing a whole engine when you land a hard launch and your front Axle decides it'd rather be a crank shaft.

X2 for air bumps. I love my air bumps, but like them much better shortened to 2" travel.

I tried the Daystar stingers, and they are terrible. Still have them on the front until I can swap for more air bumps. I've tried different combinations of the foam inserts, and nothing makes them better. Had to rebuild one of the them already, shaft was bent and bronze bushing was oval.

I tried several different poly/rubber ones, and the best ones were factory 03 chevy suburban/Tahoe rear bumps.

Profender has air bumps for $150 ea.

That's what mine are, Profenders. Good company, good product.

I know several people who have used these with a lot of success. You can trim them to height and drill holes in them to soften the rate.

Prothane Coil Spring Inserts |

I have too. they were awesome in a XJ.

I've used those with great success in the past!
So ruffly how much do they compress, and how much room did you leave between the original bump stop holder and the top of them. I have 7.5 inches right now and it will be close to that I'm thinking the 5in ones would work pretty well if they have some give to them

Mine were setup with maybe 2" of travel before contact was made. It was great for bombing the trails, I have no idea how that would work for trail riding / rock crawling. if you get the longer ones you can always cut them down if its too stiff.

Really, that's it? After examining them in my ecors XJ, and the surrounding wear (and sometimes damage) I think I was compressing them a lot more than that.

Yeah, judging by my shock shafts mine didn't compress all that much. I was set up with about 1.5" up travel on race day FWIW.

The prothane inserts are gonna be the best bang for the buck.
Air bumps are the best way if you want to modify your spring seats a little to mount them and stiffen up the area around it.
A set of tunable shocks such a fox 2.0's or even rs9000xl works good if you are not racing it. You have my number if you want to toss around ideas and gain from my lessons learned the hard way.
