Busted carrier

Here is a pic of the 8.8 carrier out of my 2001 F-150 that decided to self destruct.

Anyone ever seen one do this or heard of one doin this before.
There was no warning signs or anything it just went out.

Yeah, 9's not only grenade stock carriers and detroits like it's nobody's business...but they also like to drop the pinion support and driveshaft right out of the case at will!

Maybe you can go with one of those new superduty axles instead? Oh, right...

rear end almost back together now I upgraded to a heavy duty carrier with a 8 pack clutch instead of a 6 pack clutch. I thought about goin with a whole new rear end and puttin in the 9" but I was able to rebuild this one for less than 400.00$ So I went with the rebuild.
