HOW do people do it.

I have been looking for a decent vehicle to seat 2 adults and 3 carseats for under 2k
I just need it for my wife to get back and forth to preschool food lion and walmart

I have called people withint 10 minutes of them posting something and someone was already in their driveway.

I have emailed withint 3 minutes of them posting it and I was the 9th email in line.

What am I doing wrong?

Also anyone know of another place I can look for cars other than Craigslist?

sorry getting frustrated at craigslist and wanted to try out the new forum at the same time. :)

Luck of the draw my friend, luck of the draw. Try to go back about a week or so and start looking. Maybe that will help. That way the "new" to Craigslist has wore off and you don't have everyone trying to jump on it.

Sent from my microwave using a teleportation device.

I don't know how they do that, but from past experience, there are easily 2-300 post every 8 hr.s, on a slow day. Fri. evenings, & Sat., are the busiest. Anything under $2k, EVERYBODY, is looking, Particularly the foreigners! If it's under $6-700, ALL the Junk/Scrape haulers, will call U & offer $2-400, hoping to steal it! Jeremy, has a point; after 12 hrs., many people don't know the post is there, or un-sold. Good Luck!

If there is a number call instead of email, if there is no number I always try and ask for it in the email or send them mine, just a thought, I have bought 2 different rides off craigslist. Sometimes it's better to look a state away or not so local to u that's worked best for me.

try ebay and put in closest to you its in the same place as time ending soonest and buy it now options
i have had a couple friends buy that way

autotrader and cars.com both work...

Also I ahve a lot of luck looking in smalle surroundings.....seems like the same car demands 25% more in Charlotte than say Hickory/Asheville

the $600-$700 rides are easy to buy, usually the folks selling are fed up with low ball scrap offers of $200-$300, and are easily nabbed for just slightly more. How I netted my ZJ for $450. great way to get a ride to fix up.

Charlotte is a good place to get them too, whereas a pile might sell for $900 here in cleveland county, It can be had for less in charlotte. scrap prices are lower in charlotte, and there's less options when it comes to scrapping a car, folks are more inclined to try and sell them rather than scrap them.

Higher milage ZJ's and XJ's, while not good on fuel, can be had for very cheap.

try using searchtempest.com as well

My wifes friend sold a vehicle in about 30 minutes off craigslist. As soon as it got posted, within about 5 minutes someone called and said they were coming to get it.
