..... is not what it used to be. Our last house was a breeze but this one was a major PIA..... Oh well, We are homeowners again!!!
 
Tell me about it....I'm still in the process of building one. I'm thinking if I had to do it again, I'd buy one. If I didn't already own the land, I would have this time!
 
I am still searching, 30 days now. The market around here is lean..

X2. We Just finished building a house. I will never do it again. I wish we had just bought one.
 
I'll be glad when it's done...actually, I'll be glad when it dries out enough to get started! I haven't even gotten the land cleared yet.
 
I would have loved to built. I know its even more of a headache. We bought b/c of the timeframe we had.....
 
I'm closing next week and will be clearing my land to build. I've not started yet and its already a pain.
 
Fawk...I've been looking for a year and had 3 house deals fall apart on me in the last 6 months. First house the seller wouldn't budge on 2k in closing costs, so I walked...house sold 2 months later for 6k under what I offered. Second house was an absolutely perfect house, had the sq/ft, the land, and garages. I saw it the first day it was on the market, the following Monday I offered asking price, the next day they donated it to Wounded Warrior (can't really get mad at that though). Just had another house fall through on me a week ago. Seller's original appraisal was stupid high, my appraisal was a bit on the low end (30k lower)...and the third appraisal split the difference. The seller wanted 100% of the 3rd appraisal and no closing assistance, so we parted ways. 6 months ago I said it would take too long to build...I should have just done it. Found another house this weekend, gonna put an offer in this week...and probably just build a 4 car detached and call it good.
