What is the process for buying a home on the steps of the courthouse? There is a home i am somewhat interested in that is being sold soon. Do you have to have all cash up front?

Varies by county.
Gaston is the only NC County I've bought from. 25% due at bid and 100% within 3 business days.

A word to the wise. Pay a couple hundred and have title work done before bidding.

My parents bought land at the courthouse in Burke County several years ago. They were the only bid, but had to wait 10 days in case of another bid. On the 9th day, an attorney made a bid, so the clock started over. They made a higher bid, so the clock started over again. Another 9 days goes by, that attorney bid again, clock started over. They made a bid, clock started over. This time, no more bids, so 10 days after their final bid, they got it.
