Buying out of state vehicles

The vehicle that I like is out of state at a dealer in sc.

How does tax, tag, registration work in this instance?

If it is at a dealer then I would imagine they would take care of a temp tag. I bought my PU in texas and for a month I rolled around with Texas tags.

How Did you register it and pay nc tax?

Either the dealership will have it transferred to nc, or you take all the paperwork to DMV yourself.

This didn't happen in NC but in NJ before I moved. When they got around to mailing the paper work to the DMV I got a phone call and went and picked up plates and registration.

It was really a painless process when I went through it.

Never bought from a dealer out of state, but have bought numerous vehicles from private parties out of state. I always take the title to the DMV and pay all the taxes right there with my tags.
