C-6 problems and questions

i have a 79 f-150 with a 351-m and a c-6. first and second gear went to slipping today. i haven't had a chance to tear into the trans yet, just limped it home this afternoon. if i need to pull the unit, i'd like to go back with something with an overdrive and lock up feature. i was wondering if an OD out of a later model f150 or full size bronco had an OD unit behind a 351 roller block shared a bellhousing pattern with my 351-m (400)? thanks

The 351M/400 uses the big block bellhousing. I think you'll be needing a trans from behind a late model 460.
