Hello, I live near Ft. Bragg and I want to take the family (including dogs) somewhere in NC to relax in a cabin from Feb 17th - Feb 20th. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not looking for a place that has cabins on top of each other. I want something secluded and quiet. Close to water is nice, but not a must. If there were a lot of rocks close by for the kids to climb around on and play it would be nice too. Just looking to get away, relax, do some hiking, and let the dogs run around.

I've been searching for places around Asheville and found a place that might work in West Jefferson, NC, but I'm up for anything up to about 4 hours away from Fayetteville, NC.

Thanks for your help

Cant think of the name, but its in the maggie valley area. creekside nice cabins and private.

and out that far West is about my limit. I would LIKE to find something a bit closer than that, but if I know that we're going to have a good time then I'm willing to travel that far. I would hat to just go off of internet pictures of a place and have it end up being a dump, in a weird spot, or too close to neighbors. I really want to be able to let the dogs run off leash, but they don't do that much, so they might not exactly stick right with me :D

I'll ask my wife she found a place that has campsites and cabins some with all the fixins and some without for a decent price. We were planning on going there until bills got in the way.

hey man ive been looking for a cabin for me and the wife to go to when i get back from this deployment. We went to sugar maple cabins in TN before I came out here for our honeymoon and they were very nice just not "secluded" at all like they said it would be.Just google man there are alot out there,I had found a good site but now cant find it if i do though i will post it up!

Alright now I am hooked.Anyone know of these place that have and may have snow on the ground for a little while?

thanks for the info guys. I am NOT driving all the way to TN. That is just a little out of the search area, because I know I can find what I'm looking for a lot closer. I have been searching and there are a few listed on CL that I am going to call tomorrow when I get off of work in the morning. vacationrentals.com has a lot of listings that I like, allow dogs, stream running through property, no neighbors, sitting on 21 acres of land, and peaceful as shit. :D

*edit* I'll post up what I find as long as no one snags president's day weekend from me...hahaha

Here is a link to the same type thread I started a few weeks ago http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103388&highlight=
We stayed near Clayton, GA but that may be too far for you.
VRBO seems to have the best listings.
Oh yeah, by the way. Call the people who have the cabins and ask if they know of any others in the area if you are having a hard time finding one. That's how I ended up finding the one we stayed in.

I'm sure WV would be great, but there HAS to be something comperable closer than that. It would be a 7 hour hike for me to get to showshoe. I'd like to keep the drive in the 3 hour range.

search for cabins in pilot mountain, sparta, or galax va

Plus the URE cabins are out of season right now aren't they?

I FOUND THE PLACE!!!!!!

maybe

It could be somewhere in this list. They are all looking the same now. I'm tired of looking :(

Check out Watershed Cabins in Nantahala NC. REAL close to plenty of water. Great whitewater rafting, etc. It's just up the mountain from the Nantahala Outfitters.

This is the cabin I stayed at. Absolutely LOVED it. Beautiful view and phenomenal cabin.

I'd stayed there in January and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub during a snow fall. There's also a big ass jacuzi tub, fireplace, full kitchen, fully furnished. The whole 9.

Chris man those are some nice cabins!Do you know how they are about changing dates or rescheduling? I have been looking for a cabin for the last few months Ive been out here for me and Holli to stay when i get back but trying to plan when is the hard part lol!

Sure don't. I had to schedule in advance though. I think I remember reading some type of policy on rescheduling. Have Holli give them a call and see what they say?

I've got some photos on my facebook of this cabin and the view. There are several other cabins on this same mountain. Each of which are secluded, but you can see them. There's also some other folk that live on the mountain. It was very, very quiet though. It has your typical mountain folk and their "yard art" on your way up to the cabin. Once you're there, you can't see any of the riff-raff.
