I've been looking for a cabin in the mountains or at a lake to rent for the weekend coming up.(12-31-10 thru 1-2-11) There are none that are affordable that aren't already taken! I've looked in Boone area, Clayton, GA, Helen, Ga, just about anywhere where we can just chill for the weekend.
If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears!

Not sure what you consider affordable but we stayed at the B&B over Christmas last year. We had a great time. A little hokey and no TVs in the rooms but they have WiFi. Really nice place to get away. They were building a new Chalet when we were there, I imagine its finished..

Shhhh! The less people know about that place the better :D
Been going there since the early 90s and its getting even more overcrowded every year!

Crap...really??????? I haven't been down that way in about 5 years. I'm planning a camping trip down that way right now. Hence my tent thread...haha.

You can set up a tent in my backyard for only, say, $50/night.
Might even give ya some breakfast and let you use the toilet too!

One of the people who I contacted had another cabin where I was looking so I ended up with a nice little cabin for a good price in Clayton, GA.
Thanks for the replies. I'll keep the info for next time.

Gatlinburg has some nice ones. I've rented from smockymountianrentals.com several times.

My friend rented a cabin on Gaston Lake over Thanksgiving for like $350 it was a nice little place.

Oh yeah, there are some really nice places on Lake Gaston. My parents own a home up there, big A-frame, form the outside it at least looks liek a log cabin, but the inside is more like a modern home w/ a wide open floorplan.
They used to rent it out, but then Mom moved in permanently.

I did finally find one on VRBO. A lady called me back, her cabin that I inquired about was rented but she had another and I took it.
It's just where and what I wanted so we are good to go.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll keep the links for future reference.
