i am going to build off the stock cage of my tj
pics of how i was thinking of doing it (done it with tape first) what do you think or any thoughts on it
this is the first time i have done one so any suggestions or thoughts would be great

I'm not a Jeep guy, so I can't say that I'm familiar with the scale of a TJ, but from those pics it looks like you have bars run right over the driver and passengers heads. Nice thought on triangulation, but it'll suck to drive when you can't keep your head from hitting that bar. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do it that way.
 
If you are going to do some serious wheeling, You need some side to side cross brasing in there. Like behind the the driver seat on the bottom to the top over the head of the passenger an vis versa. Gives it strength from side to side in case of a roll over.
