We will be there Saturday morning with 8-10 rigs.

Should be a decent group of us rolling in from Boone on Saturday morning.

*** As a heads up for those of you coming through Boone on Saturday, be sure to roll through as early as possible. There is a home football game versus #1 Ranked Georgia Southern and a pretty large crowd is expected.

The situation just inside Tennessee is evolving, with more and more North Carolina resources heading across the state line. Emergency Management from Watauga, Boone Haz-Mat units, and law enforcement from Watauga are being called across the state line to help with two areas of concern. One is near the Bulldog Road intersection with US 421 very near the Trade Volunteer Fire Department, where one of the trucks is leaking a load of 4500 gallons of liquid nitrogen. Then there’s the 150 gallon tank of diesel fuel, knocked off a truck, is being handled by Watauga volunteer departments Boone Fire and emergency management from Watauga. Traffic going into Tennessee is being blocked on the North Carolina side, law enforcement and volunteer fire departments heading north-bound 421 traffic onto US 321at the Skateworld intersection, at another section of old 421 near the state line, and at the state line itself, as well as some of the back roads entering Tennessee. On the Tennessee side, Johnson County dispatch says they’re diverting from Tennessee 167 and 421 at the Food Lion in Mountain City to US 321 and onto highway 88 heading into Ashe. One report we have is that the incident involved a hit-and-run, but details are yet to be released in the emergency situation. Just how long the blockage will last depends on the careful clearing of the wreck site—some sources say all day—and we’ll keep you up to date on the latest.

For those that are unfamiliar with the area, this is right across the border on the way to Mtn City. Traffic is being detoured but it is going to add a bit to your trip.

ok guys, seems to be open now. just spoke with Hcore4x4 and his shop is at the NC/TN line.

Has anybody ever stayed at the Mountain Empire Motel there in mountain city? Looks to be pretty cold for camping.

Not a lot of choice in Mtn.City, but Myself & others have stayed at the Empire. I think it's a good deal, for the price! Don't miss a meal at the Restaurant,[formaly Cooks] the food is great, price is good, cafeteria style!

PS: JC, you did WHAT, on Waterfall? I did it once---on a winch.
However, our last ride I did do Easy Out, & main part of Armour All. Guess I wanted to remember Calla. [ I really shouldn't have]:shaking:
