The Carolina Ridge Runners would like to invite anyone who would like to enjoy Callantee with a laid back family oriented group. We are staying in a cabin Friday through Monday morning. You split the costs. We have spaghetti, and hotdogs for dinner so far, Blueberry pancakes and breakfast casserole for breakfast so far. Let me know if you're interested.

I will have two stock trucks with us,I mean way stock,we will show them some scenary and such just to wet their feet, newbee's to offroading.

Since they don't have rocker protection etc. I'm keeping them away from welder and such, and something about wives and death threats:lol:

I told them to be their about 9:30,I'll be there a little earlier.
When will you be up there on friday?

We're arriving at different times to the cabin Friday night. We have one coming from Wilmington. I was thinking of starting the trails by 10. Although we'll probably get there before then. Several of us were wanting to attempt the waterfall. Are the bypasses chewed up? It's been about 2 years since I was up there. I guess those of us riding Sunday can hit the big stuff then. We were also having lunch on the trails. Our rigs range from moderate to not quite stock. No extreme rigs yet though.

All bypasses are smooth sailing, this goes for waterfall, easyout, armorall, pullcable and TOW.......

Looks like i might try to make it up there sunday to hit the "big stuff" with you. Any idea where and when i could meet up with y'all?

Are you just going up for a day run??

You can meet us at the Callantee parking lot at 9:30am Sunday - give or take. what's your name so I know who we're looking for?

Yeah, just a day run. If i am feeling froggy i might trailer up Saturday and camp at the campground.

I will be in a red dodge towing a beat up red comanche with blue doors. Can't miss me, LOL. Come up and find me if you see me.

Spencer is the last name. I've got Ashe county heritage, i bet being from Sparta you know of quite a few Spencers(not too far from our part of the world). Good guess.

2 or 3 of us from Bristol/Abingdon are planning to go on Sunday. All 38s+ & locked. Probably doing mostly the big stuff. Would like to ride with some others and we may be able to lead a group.

Gray Dodge with no bed (Todd) and White CJ on 38s (Jamie). Maybe 4xfever as well- Brown FS Cherokee (metal Head)

Should be there by 9:30am.

Great! I'm getting ready to leave. Call if you want, # posted above. Hopefully we have internet too :D (I'm a junkie).

:burnout:

To those we met on the Mountain today- it was a pleasure. We had a little trouble with Jamie's oil pan that sprung a leak, and a broken front outer shaft and my winch that works part time now... Pull Cable claims some more parts...

Yeah, i think i got off pull cable pretty much unscathed. The damage came on the step trail off welder, below the step.
prezteled the drag link, bent the tie rod, and took out a taillight.

We tried unsuccessfully again to find the AORC rock garden. I guess i need to go with someone who knows where it is.

What a weekend! We had a blast. Even the road trips up to Mountain City were interesting. Brent had some food that disagreed with him but made it to the cabin. Jason had problems with the trailor and then the truck overheated but they also made it that night to the cabin. First thing everybody did was get into the hottub. The cabin was loved by all - little problems with water pressure and parking but other than that - great! Saturday morning arrived and we headed off and met Doug (Team Turtle). Great guy and he was busy collecting toys. We seperated at that point because he had some stockers. We went straight to Welder and played on Waterfall. Brent made several attempts until he couldn't pinch his seat any tighter and Eric's eyes were all you could see. Then Mike wanted me to try it so I got up there and let him feel the angle. I tried to get the Jeep to tip his way but I couldn't do it. Nobody else wanted to play so we headed on up and watched some play on Steps and then we went on to what we think was Easy Out. Sherry got stuck again. Jason and Brent had fun playing on the "mini waterfall". The it was on to Rut. We carefully made our way up and went to go down blue trail when we came across the other group who was broke down. So we went back down Rut and down Welder (watched some Beerbuilt guys play and then moved on down. We went to find the tower. Along the lost way, I got stuck and Brent pulled me out. The dirt there isn't mud but liquid dirt (if that makes sense). We finally made it to the rock (the tower) and took a group shot. Sandy was happy to get her scenic photographs. Jason was smoking up some blue exhaust all day so took the rear most of the time. Erika got to play in the mud puddles and water puddles (creek crossings) on the way back to camp. Mike (Erika's) said he wants to get a jeep so bad after he got to driver her's some. We all went to the cabin and met up with Stewart, Sharon, Liam and Sean and had a great dinner with lots of talk. Then after some went to bed, some kept up and drank more juice. At breakfast we had a great laugh regarding Mike (drug school) and his adventures of getting into bed. Sandy I believe was crying she was laughing so hard. We headed out again Sunday without Erika or Sunday :( We met up with Adam from off of NC4x4. He was great, very knowledgeable and gained the respect of the group. He took us to Armor All which everyone enjoyed and then we watched some play on Pull Cable - Adam had to winch several times. No major damage at this point though. As I went to move out of the way, I sheared off my valve stem on a boulder so I got up the hill as fast as I could before all the air was gone. Adam was gracious enough to help me change my tire. There was a lot of sweating involved. We then went around, got Brent and tried to find a playground. We thought we were in Deliverance Country. With Ravines, roller coaster rides, drop offs, switchbacks, loose shale, . . . . We made it to familiar ground and went to try Steps. Adam bent his drag link on the tree. Switched it out right there and then I tried the Steps. It wasn't happening. So we went on to go further up. We went on the Loop which was fun. As we headed back to camp, Adam attempted the Hill Climb until he overheated. So, a bent drag link, a flat tire, two brake light smashed and a smoking jeep. Not bad for a rougher playground. I found out that we also have a new group member - Welcome to the club as an official member Erika. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful, relaxing, fun, and delightful weekend!

Sherry

Todd - it was great meeting you too. I hope everyone got back home safe!

Special thanks to the Carolina Ridge Runners:beer: and everyone else that showed up,we finished off the toy drive with two large bags of girl toys,

It was great to meet you all and I'm glad you had a good time.

Haha sorry, Name is Adam. I just figured it would be easier to find me by truck than by name.
Or just look for the really tall guy that is soft spoken, and looks like he could eat children if needed...:flipoff2::lol:
