Hey Guys,
Ive got an opportunity to buy a Cub Cadet/Yanmar SC2400 with a front loader attachement, 60" deck, and 3pt. Its a 2008 with 156 hours. Everything Im finding on these little tractors is good. Great reviews, not alot of problems, etc.... Also the price($5000) he is asking is about 2500 less than what I can find them for online. I got to run the machine for a half day here at the house and everything seems to work great. No problems.

Before I pull the trigger, does anyone else have any input?

Does anyone have any experience with these machines?

Do they hold up well for the home owner/light commercial work?

I assume it is 4x4? At that price, its a no brainer. Yanmar has been making good little tractors for a long time. The Cub Cadet part would worry me more considering how much they've cheapened everything about themselves in the past decade(s). Go for it!

Yeah price is a done deal. Just wanted extra input. Im not real versed in tractors. Ive run heavy equipment and skids but this is my first subcompact purchase.

Another big plus is the yanmar dealer is like 5 miles from your house. I looked at them before I bought mine but they are pretty light compared to the competition. I wouldnt think twice about buying it at that price.

Yup, he actually bought it there.

Not familiar with that one, just some thoughts. That bucket looks Large, for the machine. You've probably already found they don't lift much. Any front loader is Hard on the front axle & steering. I can't see the axle, but the tires look Small. Hope it's got power steering! Turf tires? I'd expect/want Tractor tread, on the rear. Wheel weights help too. Looks like a pretty fair deal!

I thought the same when I saw the bucket, but didn't think much of it. If you do plan to use the bucket, You will want to have some piece of 3pt equipment on the back to balance out the load. Tractors get their stability from the rear axle. The front is on a pivot, but the rear is fixed, so if it gets too much weight on the front, you're much more likely to tipover. I've come VERY close to finding that out the hard way with someone else's backhoe.

Bucket on something like that Cub is great for moving mulch. Pretty much it's purpose in life. Maybe a little soil now and then...but it's definitely not for dirt/rock/etc. Get it! (and get rid your your wheelbarrow!)

I pulled the trigger, I bought it. As for the bucket, its a 5 cuft. Its a small machine. Im not expecting it to do alot, but itll be great to move some things around the house and I do alot of mulch jobs most are 5yds + and I have been wheel barrowing them. Sometimes long distances. The turf tires will stay b/c I'll be using it in my customers yards. I may look into a set of bars for the rear later on, but it is 4wd and it did well in some soft spots in my yard w/o tearing it up.

It's a lil more than I wanted to spend on a tractor for around the house, but I can use it for more than that. Keep any suggestions coming, Im a first time tractor owner now LOL

Can anyone tell me where to find the smaller size implements? Ive searched CL but most of those are the larger ones.

LOL Ive rolled a bobcat end over end.... Luckily that day for some odd reason I had put on my seatbelt. I know... I know you should always wear your belt on equipment.... but this time I really feel someone was watching out for me. Could you imagine flopping around inside that cage...

You can find the smaller implements at the dealer if you wanna pay the price. Otherwise just watch and see what Craig has, or maybe contact people who are trying to sell their small tractor with implements and try to buy them separately. Bigger implements are better anyway :D But at 1250lbs, you'll have trouble getting power to the ground, especially with turf tires. I'll second what Rodney said earlier about getting the tires filled. Made a huge difference on my Massey 35. And you're adding weight down low, so it also adds some stability.

Im mainly just looking for a small box scrape, harley rake, and a brush mower. Ill look into filling the tires, but Im also looking into a separate set of bars for the rear. that way I can swap out depending on what Im doing. One day when I grow up maybe I can get a bigger machine, but this one will do for now.

Your Tractor is just what I Needed today! I finally updated 2 yard projects. Since my car trailer is my only trailer, I spent 3+ hours building a box, or side boards. Then off to a recycler.
My Truck & trailer weighed in empty at 10020# [their scales]. 2380# of backfill, & 1780# of crushed brick. I was lucky enough to get a friend to help me unload it, a shovel full at a time!
I popped a Rx pain pill before I grabbed a shovel. It wore off after 2 hours, just as we finished up!

I know what you mean.... I have bursitis in both my shoulders and tennis elbow... I hate shoveling
