Ok fellas back again need some advice on a new cam setup, engine is 85 350 block, 72 400 cast heads, manifold, with 69 427 spread bore Qjet... So ive noticed a rocker not moving and im assuming its a cam lobe so im looking for a somewhat mild cam for this beast to complete this nerve wracking rebuild i have been working on, Im not going for anything crazy or extreme, just wanna know what would be best for K5 blazer with 14/44 8lug on 37is tires 4.10 gears!? I was told to find a tow/RV cam for torque but not sure where to start and what is compatible with the 350 also this is a DD/weekend wheeler for now any suggestions on sizes and good long lasting brands would be appreciated Thanks in advance...

Best advise...Call a cam company (CompCams, Crane and there are a few others) They have Techs that will ask you all the right questions and then suggest the cam you need. Make sure to get a kit with lifters and stick with hydraulic flat tappet.

I was just looking at the comp 4x4 cam x4254 actually gonna call like 3D suggested to see what techs on this say i believe comp is not bad priced do they hold up well if broke in correctly?

I sent all info in on comp cams website and they email you what cam works best with your engine application thanks for input guys!

Yes just make sure to coat it good in a break in lube, run a oil with a high zinc content and follow the proper break in procedure.

Yeah gonna switch to rotella i believe ive heard the zinc is needed and oil just dont have it even with the additives... any of yall run rotella in your sbc?

All my cars run 10/30 diesel oil now. They have stripped all the anti wear goodies out of "Automotive" oil.
What has been bottled as conventional "racing" oil for years, is basically diesel oil. Got that straight from a Ashland Chemical (Valvoline, Napa, etc...) Engineer years ago.
Synthetic isnt really "synthetic" in the true sense of the word. They dont make it out of top secret polymers and space dust. It is just a much more refined conventional oil with a premium additive package.
Now the synthetic oils cant run zinc and phosphates which are the 2 biggest protectors of wear. So I quit using it and run diesel oil which still has it. Hope that helps.

Yeah thats what im hearing too would my 4.0 in my zj run ok with rotella too? Ive just heard of it going into sbc's...

Good deal gonna pull jeep out and try an get ready for some wheeling this summer if possible gotta tconv to replace and its a PITA to pull that crap tranny....
