i need a big socket set of sockets over 1 1/4" for the hub bearing on my Jeep and the pinion nut on my 14bolt. the only sockets i have found that big are 3/4" drive at Sears but I am told the wall is too thick. I have looked at Sears, Lowes, and even Wal-Mart. I havent tried Northern yet because i thought lunch sounded better. Now i am kinda wishing i had just spent the $100 something with the Snap-On guy. will Northern or maybe Harbour Freight have them?

get one from sears and grind it down. ive been down this road bofore, unless you spend a lot of money or modify somthing its just not going to work out

so i started this at 11 30. its now 3 45, i still havent found the right size socket. ive been back and forth to both sears and northern countless times. this could very well be the most frustrating thing ever. i think i would have rather spent $100 something with the snap-on guy and just be done with it.

Where'd you finally find it? Lowes? And just a ? did you just buy one socketa at a time or buy 3 or 4 and take the wrong ones back? deffinately sounds frustrating.

ahhh, 4 Sears trips, 2 Northern trips, 1 Wal-Mart trip, and 1 Lowes trip later i have it.... 1-7/16". now that was certainly frustrating

1-7/16" works out to ~36.5mm...

the hub nut on a Dana 30 axle is a 36mm...

bet that's the socket you need...mine came from either NAPA (pretty sure it did) or AutoZone...and is 1/2" drive...

agri supply has them, individually and in sets.

i found it at sears, just used a 3/4" drive with a 1/2" - 3/4" conversion. well if its 36mm screw it, i installed the new bearing no problem after finding that socket. it was easy as all get out... still didnt solve the problem though so im going to try the passenger side next.

Most NAPA stores sell hub nut sockets. They usually run from 20-$45.

The Snap On guy can also get them but they are usually around $50 and he usually doesn't carry them on the truck, from my experiences.

I got my 2 1/8" socket for under $10 including the 3/4 - 1/2" reducer from Agri Supply.
