Jeep 4.2/AX15. I don't know how this slipped my mind, but I'm so close to being done with this AX15 swap and then I realize that the T5 dust shield doesn't match the bottom of the AX15.

Can I separate the trans from the engine enough to sneak the dust shield off the two studs and rotate it off/on without removing the clutch/flywheel? I don't know if I have it in me to remove all those components again.

First pic is T5 dust shield on the 4.2, second is of an AX15 dust shield (top is bottom left, bottom top right)

I Forgot to put mine on after mating the tranny during my engine swap. We slid the tranny back Just a little and was able to slide it in and rotate.

I've had the trans out no less than 15 times on my yj, never had to pull the clutch to get the dust shield. Usually falls and tried to guillotine me when I first pry the trans back off the dowel pins.

My fiancés yj was the same, although hers was stuck on dowel pins.

There must be something different with the dowel pins between the 4.2 and 4.0. There was nothing easy about that, and I should have taken it all back apart to properly swap those out, but I absolutely wasn't going to do that. So with the power of a few flat head screwdrivers and a dead blow I got it.

I shouldn't have done it that way.. but I did..

My yj originally had 4.2, then had 4.0, now has stroked 4.0.

All using the same two transmissions.

Always had to pry the dust shield off dowel pins as the bellhousing when tight smashes the shield into the pins.

Never a problem, just pry it off and it slides down.

Mine yj is a 90, also had an 89. My fiancés is a 91.

Only thing is I'm Not sure if the earlier ones were different, and how.
