Can I switch to Synthetic oil?

Just got a 2005 Ram 2500 with the Cummins. Only has 71K miles. Owners manual gives an option of conventional or synthetic. Currently it has conventional oil in it. At my next oil change, can I switch to synthetic? Will I have to do anything differently to switch from conventional to synthetic? I've never ran synthetic in anything and have never had a diesel, so didn't know if I had to add anything or not when switching.

cant say for sure on cummins. but gas motors is not realy a problem to swap.

only major thing is if its got oil leaks before swap over thay can get worse with synthetic.

otherwise good drain and fill with filter no problems.

I hope your cummings doesn't take 15 quarts like my ford. That would eat some benjis quick.

The Rotella T 5w-40 synthetic is a great oil to switch to and will help get oil to the various parts more quickly on start-up.
