Is it easy to take the front doors of a zj with out setting off alarms or other bs

As with anything, easy depends on skill level.
But it can be done witout great pain and suffering.

In short you need to drill/pin the hinges and make quick disconnets for the door wires.
I would use a single multi wire plug for wiring purposes...and you can get the pins at TS just have to size for individual vehicles.

ck5.com had an excellent stet by step how to at one time, but Im too lazy to go look and see if its still there. It was on a k5, but same difference.

the zj door aleady has harness that can be disconnected, with 10mm head screw iirc, it's been about two years since i had a door off. Good AC and leather make a day in the URE dust bowl a whole lot more enjoyable

x2 I took mine off the other year, wasnt a fun job to do alone. But nothing to technical about it, unplug the wire harness, unbolt the door, take door off.

I did this on my ZJ front and rear. Not hard at all. Just 4 10mm bolts on each door, but the harness takes forever to get off up front.

Taking them off is easy, but good luck getting that heavy sonofbitch back on.

can someone please post pics of where the wirin harness is? really want to my zj doors of!

Can't miss the harness, there is a top and bottom hinge and between them is a rubber tube with the harness in it.

Also you'll need to hold downthe door light button in the a pillar and the alarm button on the b pillar or the VIC will show your doors are open all the time. I pulled my door light pins since I don't have stock interior lights but you could always just bend a small piece of metal to hold them down and use a self tapping screw to hold them in place

The harness on the first gen ZJs has a torx bolt in the middle of the harness, the second gens do not if I remember correctly.

As for the interior lights, just pull the fuse.

Also you can just unscrew the hinges and not have to take out the center pin.

After I took off my doors a few times, it lost its appeal and I just left them on after then.
