Can I relocate an oil pressure sending unit to another location or position by using copper fittings? In other words....does it matter what direction the top of it is facing? My problem is, that I am replacing the motorcraft alternator with a delco on the 360. The back of the Delco alternator is hitting the sending unit, because it is thicker. I took the sending unit off and plugged the hole temporarily to see if I could get the alt to fit and it did. Any other suggestions are welcome as long as I can get out free or very cheap. Maybe I need a different set of brackets or something. If you have a set, let me know!

Thanks!

With the stock brackets on an AMC 360 for a delco alternator, the fittings supplied in a mechanical oil pressure kit will work. It's close, and a lot easier to install with oil filter off.

unlike temp sending units, pressure sending units only need the pressure to get to them. Using fittings to re-route the where your oil pressure unit is will work fine, just make sure that you use stuff rated to handle the pressure. It may be a little unsightly, but would work just fine. a 45* or 90* fitting turned at the right angle may give you the room you need
