Can we not pass anymore?

Isn't NC law to flash lights to signal intent of passing?

I like to wash my windshield when some idiot behind me is blowing their top and driving like a punk . Oh and I usually go 5 mph less while doing it.

I think people just don't pay attention to anything around them when they drive anymore. It's not even cell phones, they just don't look at anything besides what's directly ahead. I have one road I travel frequently. It goes from a 50 zone to 35. Then you turn onto a 25 zone for a short while, another stop sign, then it goes up to 55. I get behind people doing 35-40 in the 50. They proceed to do that through the 25,then more of the same in the 55 zone. It's like that's the only speed they're comfortable with, signs be damned.

I call those monospeeders. And ~40mph seems to be the ideal speed for them in my area too. On the interstate, ~63 mph in the left lane seems to be the magic number, whether it's a 70mph open road or 50 mph work zone.

I'm not sure the law on this, and I'm sure it varies from state to state but what really grinds my gears is the idiots that don't know how to merge onto the interstate. Scenario: 4-6 pm traffic, 3 lanes loaded but rolling smoothly with 2-9 car length gaps between each car doing 55-60 mph. Some asshat comes rolling down the ramp not paying any attention and ends up right beside you while in the right lane and you can't safely merge left. There's good gaps in front and behind you and sufficient ramp left but instead of speed up or slow down to actually MERGE, they ride right beside you and ride ramp the whole way and throw a hissy fit when they end up in the shoulder and having to hit the brakes. OK I'm sorry but I have absolutely no compassion for these stupid imbussils. Work for it. Unless its a truck/trailer or large commercial vehicle I make no major effort or put myself in danger to clear room for them. I think it should be the responsibiluty of anyone coming down the ramp to MERGE with traffic on the interstate and not the responsibility of those already on it to make it easy for them.

This crap always happened when I lived in Boone because of all the Floridiots. I think this issue is worse in the mountains where there are actual passing lanes. People slow poke it 5-10 under on the two lane, but as soon as it opens up with a passing lane they speed up. I can't even begin to count the times going to Harlan and Callalantee that I got to a passing zone, moved to the left to go around someone and they speed up. I've gotten the finger, honked at and lights flashed at me numerous times for laying into it and rolling past them with the trailer/rig in tow.

Ha Ha, your right. It was a trip living in Boone with all of the Floridiots. I find myself still calling them that here in Winston.

In NC at least, it is the responsiblity of the merging car to do so safely. The driver already on the highway is not obligated to make room for the merging car.

I absolutely hate getting behind someone that doesn't use the on-ramp to get up to speed. That's the whole point of the on-ramp! You speed up to match traffic and safely merge in.
