I bought my 99 TJ with the lift already installed. I need to replace the bushings but unfortunately I'm not sure what manufacturer made this kit. I THINK it's a 4.5" RC super duty kit. If you can recognize the arms I would greatly appreciate it.
I hate to tell you this, but those look like the tight-fitting poly bushings (and the grease fittings are a dead giveaway also) and those will rip your control arm mounts if you drive it offroad much.
If I were you I would replace them with arms with good flex joints (Currie, RE, Rokmen, Clayton, etc.) even though it is probably not an expense you're expecting.
The reason for this is that a TJ control arm has to deflect left and right as the axle articulates. The stock rubber bushings can do this (as long as the range of motion is not too great) without damage. But the hard bushings clamped tightly in the brackets leave no room for the flexing, and the brackets must give.
DAMN! That was ugly! And those welds looked like my 5 year old did them. Luckily I havnt had any problems with the brackets so far. (and they are fully welded.) I've had my junk pretty flexed out and gone over some fairly difficult lines. It doesnt creak or pop or anything. I guess maybe the worn bushings give it enough flex without stressing the brackets too much. I think I'm going back with the stock rubber bushings for the short term. At least that way there is enough flex in the bushing that hopefully I wont have bracket problems. This will have to work until I have the cash for Marsfab to build my long arm kit.
Hmmmm....JEEP "Just Empty Every Pocket." And I thought racing MX was expensive.
looks like a full traction short arm kit. if so trash the control arms and get a decent set with a flex joint one one end and rubber on the other. as said above those arms aer well known for ripping axle brackets apart due to the bushings have no give and thats probably why their worn out. also look at the bolt holes bet their sloppy also.
After doing a lot of research I have come to the conclusion that wrangler00 is correct. They are rough country LCA's. It uses the stock bushings so there should be enough flex that I don't have bracket issues. (I hope) Thanks for all the heads up guys.
Anyone have a line on where I can get replacement bushings at a decent price?
