I'm a die hard STL Blues hockey fan but Carolina Hurricanes are a close second since I've lived here for so long. Anyway just wondering if there were any other Canes Fans/wheelers out there excited about all the off season signings? Just got word they got Alexander Semin from the Caps so it looks like the GM is gunning for the Cup. I'll have to say it would be pretty awesome to see my Blues go against the Canes in the final.

and some eye candy to entice you guys who don't know what hockey is...

The Semin signing is HUGE. Not sure which is bigger, the J. Staal or the Semin one. I dont think we will be in the running for the Cup this year, not enough depth at D, and no real backup for Cam that is reliable. I bet we will make a run at the playoffs this year though. Our division is tough now that Florida is playing solid hockey again. Cap's will still be a threat even losing Semin. Jets are still pretty tight and Tampa added Lindback in net, so even if their defense fails them like last season, Lindback will take up the entire thing.

'Canes will be good this year, they just need an enforcer type for that 4th line. I dont like having Parros in our division.

Growing up in NC, I never knew what hockey was until about 10 years ago my wife and I started going to the Charlotte Checkers games (minor league affiliate of the Canes). We go to 5-10 games a year now. I hope to see a Hurricanes game this year.
I still don't know all the rules of hockey, but I do know that the Charlotte Checkers is the best sports entertainment value in the Charlotte area.

glad to see the Whalers finally kicking some ass, and adding cheerleaders to the lineup...genius! I still havent gone to an NHL game, no real plans to, I enjoy watching it on TV though. I really don't have a favorite team, or even follow the team rosters, etc., just like watching the action
The $4 student ticket for Greensboro Monarchs (and arch enemy visiting Checkers) was by far the best deal ever. For a couple years, I bet I went to 90% of the home games.

I've been to a few Canes games in Raleigh. I don't know much about the rules and regs but it is very fun to watch. They are amazing athletes. The thing that got me is how they sub someone else in for a player. THere's no time out like in basketball.
