A buddy and I are looking at taking his 4runner to Uwharrie this weekend and I'm curious if there is anywhere to take a canoe out and about near the offroad trails. I've never been offroading up there and have no idea what its like. Thanks for any info

Falls reservoir is a nice quiet place to do some flatwater canoeing, you basically go almost to the end of Mocassin Creek road, and turn at Deep Water Trail, this takes you right down to the water.

I have also paddled the uwharrie river past there all the way to Tillery. If the water isn't up, I wouldn't recommend it, as the water can get very shallow and rocky.

The uwharrie river is great paddling when it up, but its too low right now. A great put in is the low water bridge and take out at 109 if you want a short, 2 mile float. Badin lake and Falls res. are the only other places near the trails.

Went all the way from 109 to Morrow Mt in a kayak. Took 9hrs

Low water bridge is actually a great spot out there that a lot of people miss out on.It would be a nice put in and We often go there after a day of wheeling and swim for awhile before heading back to camp to cook dinner. It's way less congested than the lake and you can see clear to the bottom of the river.
