Hey guys, i have an 81 toyota pickup. I just recently replaced the motor & am wondering, did i mess something up when putting the motor in? The transmission will shift completely fine when off. Trying to turn it on in gear it will want to roll. When the truck is on and i try shifting i get nothing; grinds real nasty for reverse. I've looked around on the old google and i can't find a solid answer to this problem, if anyone has any input it would be appreciated.

Thankya,

javier :( :(

When the truck is on, it doesn't want to go into gear at all. It will act like it wants to pop into reverse but, just grinds to hell.

Start with looking to see if the clutch slave is moving when you push the pedal. If it does move, you most likely fubared something in the bellhousing/clutch area. Truck is 2wd, no? 1 hour to pull the tranny. Gravy.

Well i just went ahead and pulled the motor back out, to look at the clutch. (no tranny equipment :gay: ) I don't really know what i'm looking for damage wise. everything looks like it is moving back and forth completely fine. :poop:

May have the clutch disc backwards?

^^^Yea, clutch pedal will feel like it is working, but will not allow it to go in gear. Ask me how I know...:shaking:
