Went on a camping/surfing/fishing/get-the-hell-out-of-Brunswick-County trip to Hatteras last week, and I've been too busy with catch-up work and brake issues to post em, but here's a few pics I took:

Lots of Plover closures at the Point?

Article in the paper on Friday says it's completely closed now.

The eggs are supposed to hatch soon or something.

I know the Inlet is closed but I though there was still access to the Point at the lighthouse. Oh well I will be there from the 1-9 so if I see a Plover I will make damn sure to try to kill it.

Shutting down 13 miles of beaches for 8 fawking birds is econazism at its worst

Eh, I dunno then. I didn't read that article thoroughly enough.... just saw "Hatteras...closed...fawking birds"

That's it.

The point was still open, but there is a huge area marked off just to the south of it, and it's only passable to 4WDs at low tide because the beach is all fenced off. About a mile south of that, the whole beach is closed to anything human related. There were two park rangers sitting at that fence telling us that we couldn't WALK through that area. I'm pretty damn sure that we'd be able to see a freaking bird if it was in front of us...

myself, that picture was taken with my sister's digital camera in mid-afternoon in 85 degree heat. The weather was weird that day, you could barely see the end of the pier through all the fog. Anyway, I can't remember the exact model, but I'll post it when I can get ahold of it.
